The schedules are up! Please take a look and make sure your team can field at least four players for each game. If you need to bring in a sub, no problem. Anyone can play!
I did my best to schedule as many games as possible within everyone’s time constraints, but in some cases, I had to adjust based on the other teams’ availability.
Game time has been expanded to 45 minutes, so please try to arrive a few minutes early to grab a cocktail and settle in before your game. There’s still not a ton of time between games to grab a round, so plan accordingly!
The rules and instructions on how to play can be found at the bottom of this page. Please familiarize yourselves with both before next week. Gavin will be available to walk you through and answer any questions on day one, but after that, it is up to the skips (captains) to interpret the rules and settle the score.
Team Skips (captains):
You’ve each been emailed a temporary password for the LeagueLobster site. Please log-in and get familiar with how to enter scores — this season, it’s once again the skips’ responsibility to submit scores for their teams.
If scores aren’t entered, I can’t guarantee they’ll make it into the system, and both teams may have to forfeit.
Thanks again for signing up — we’re excited for another fun season of street curling at Altered State!
I will post weather updates and other important information here. Please check-in periodically, as emailing isn't always an efficient form of communication. Be warned that this is a winter sport and games are under an hour, so we will try not to cancel for weather unless safety is a concern (extremely low temperatures or very bad roads). Most of the time road conditions and temperatures improve throughout the course of the day, so we often don't call it until late afternoon. Please dress for the weather and plan to come. If you are expecting to see an update but don't, please feel free to shoot Gavin an email.
Any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at heather@alteredstatedistillery.com
Thank you!

Street curling is a modified version of the Olympic sport of curling with one major difference - synthetic ice! So, it can be played no matter the temperature. This also means no sweeping, so social distancing can be maintained.
Teams determine who has the hammer (last stone) in the opening end by a coin toss. Having the last stone is an advantage. Stones are delivered in an alternating manner. Yellow, blue, yellow, blue, or vice versa, until all eight stones are played.
Once all eight stones are played an end is complete and scoring is tabulated. A street curling game typically consists of ten ends (rounds).
The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent. At the completion of each end, a team scores one point for each stone that is closer to the button (the center of the rings) than the closest stone to the button of the opposing team. Only stones that are in, or touching the rings when viewed from overhead, are eligible to score. Only one team can score per end. Games ending in a tie, remain a tie except for during championship games where one end will determine the winner and a coin will be tossed to determine the hammer.
